How I Prepare for Ramadan: Tips & Tricks from a Busy Mom!
As a mother, preparing for Ramadan can be quite the task!
Between juggling daily chores, spending quality time with the kids, and making sure everything is ready for the holy month, it can be quite overwhelming.
Over the years, I've managed to learn a few tips and tricks that have made the experience smoother, and I'd like to share them with you today.
Create a list of iftar options on your phone: One of the most time-consuming tasks during Ramadan is planning the iftar meals. To save myself some time and stress, I keep a running list of iftar options on my phone. Whenever I think of a new dish, I add it to the list, making meal planning a breeze!
Shop online to save time and money: Grocery shopping can be a hassle, especially during Ramadan. To make life easier, I shop online for groceries and household items. This not only saves me time but also helps me save money by using discount codes and taking advantage of online sales.

Have a set of fast recipes: I love cooking, but during Ramadan, I want to spend more quality time with my kids. That's why I have a collection of quick and easy recipes that save me time in the kitchen. Plus, these recipes are perfect for when unexpected guests come over for iftar!
Prepare some frozen dishes: Having a few frozen dishes prepared in advance can be a lifesaver during Ramadan. When I find myself short on time, I can simply heat up one of these dishes and have a delicious meal ready in no time. This trick has saved me on many occasions!
Prep for several dishes at a time. To save time, I plan well and wash and chop vegetables for several recipes at a time. This way I only have to chop onions once for example and keep them in a jar in my fridge to use over a couple of days. The same applies to salad, which I wash and cut in advance. As long as I don’t mix in the dressing, it stays fresh for several days in the fridge.
One of my favourite dishes to prepare for Suhoor in advance is this: I mix coconut milk, chopped berries, dates, bananas and nuts with oats and cinnamon in a small closed jar and let them sit in the fridge for a day. It’s the equivalent of overnight oats except they will be ready at suhoor when made in the morning! They’re quick to grab and nutritious and will make sure you won’t get hungry quickly.
You don’t want to stand for hours and stir your soup during ramadan so make sure your appliances do most of the cooking! The air fryer is an amazing help in the kitchen and so is the smart pressure cooker. I use both appliances by Nutricook and they are available at FirstCry. Prep your ingredients in advance, add them in and don’t worry about your dish until it’s ready!
Hope that these tips and tricks will help you navigate this special time with ease and joy. I know that despite our best efforts to be organized and efficient, sometimes things just don't go as planned, especially when you have kids! But at the end of the day, let's be grateful for the family gatherings and the opportunity to share the blessings of Ramdan.
Happy fasting and Ramadan Mubarak!
