Save Money On School Uniforms
It's that time of the year again… Our kids will be back to school in less than 10 days and once again we’re going through their uniforms, sorting out the ones that are too small or too stained and wondering how much we’ll have to spend on uniforms this year…
The good news is, you don’t have to buy them all from the official uniform suppliers. We have listed some tips below for you to embrace the season worry-free!
1. Take advantage of the last summer sales and look for stores which have items in colors similar to your child’s school uniform. Many tailors will be able to stitch the school’s logo on them. Our favourites are GAP, Kiabi, Riva & PatPat. Check out the codes we have!
2. Another trick is to buy fabric from a textile shop (check Satwa or Karama) and to have the uniform stitched by a tailor. You just need one original uniform for reference to match the color and copy the logo.
3. If you are lucky, your child’s uniform will be stocked by a uniform shop such as Bimbino Uniforms in Karama and Sharjah or Al Abaq Trdg. also in Karama. Give them a call to find out. And don't forget to download the logo file and give it to the tailors.
4. Don’t disregard secondhand options. Some schools have a preloved uniforms shop, others have Whatsapp groups or Facebook groups to resell uniforms. If you can’t find anything specific for your school, try your community’s Facebook group or secondhand Facebook groups such as our own Dirham Stretcher Bazaar. Trust us, you’ll see the difference between a brand new uniform and a preloved uniform on the first day of school but you won’t two weeks in at the latest! 🙈
